Insurance Cover

Some situations sit entirely outside your insurance cover. In these cases, the excess cap no longer applies, and you become responsible for the full repair bill. These are standard exclusions across the hire industry — but it's vital you know them before you set off.

Driver Negligence

Your cover does not extend to damage caused by careless or unlawful driving. You'll be fully liable for damage resulting from:

• Reckless or dangerous driving — Including ignoring traffic laws.
• Driving under the influence — Of alcohol or drugs.
• Wrong fuel — Any mechanical damage caused by misfuelling the vehicle.

Glass, Tyres and Interiors

The standard policy does not cover everyday wear-and-tear damage or specific components, including:

• Tyres and wheels — Punctures and alloy wheel damage.
• Glass — Cracked windscreens and broken side windows.
• Interiors — Rips, stains or burns to seats and the dashboard.

Overhead Impacts

You're responsible for the full cost of any roof or overhead damage. This includes impacts from:

• Low bridges
• Overhanging branches
• Car park height restrictors
